Volunteers, referred to as “mentors” agree to the following rules and responsibilities:
·Mentors agree to meet with their student, at least one hour per week for a minimum of twelve months. (Attendance in summer programming is optional)
·Mentors agree that students are free to talk about all conversations and meetings with their mentors. (Mentors cannot ask students to keep secrets)
·Mentors agree to be respectful and trustworthy with their student’s confidences, and will not share identifying information about their student unless they are concerned about the student’s safety and/or the safety of others.
·Mentors agree that all in-person contact is restricted to school grounds, unless there is permission from a parent/guardian and the School liaison to meet away from school grounds.
·Mentors agree to maintain regular contact with Project Connect by responding to calls or letters, and regularly sharing progress on goals and concerns with the School Liaison.
·Mentors agree to inform the School Liaison of any changes in phone numbers, addresses, and schedules.
·Mentors agree to contribute ideas and help plan activates to do with their student when they meet.
·Mentors agree not buy any gifts for their students.
·Mentors agree to support the overall program of Project Connect and adhere to their policies and procedures.
·Mentors agree to develop a mutually respectful relationship with the personnel of the student’s school.This involves the establishment of positive communication and respect for school facilities and policies.
